Strength in balance.
Anxiety and stress affect us all. These are unprecedented times and our world
is more uncertain than ever before. The immense pressure on us to maintain and
perform in our work, run our home, educate our children and everything else that
lies in between is something that we are all living. This is the type of stress
that can, and will, inevitably get to you, making you vulnerable in the process.
One of the main reasons we created LYMA was to offer a tangible antidote to
the rigours of modern life, and there is no better test than the situation we
all find ourselves in right now. Individually, LYMA’s nine ingredients can help
you to cope with challenging circumstances, but put together, they’re an
exceptional combination to help you take on the everyday battles we face.
Anxiety and stress. The facts.
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a normal, human feeling of fear or panic. Facing stressful
situations can set off our brain’s in-built alarm system, which tells us
something isn’t right and that we need to deal with it. But when you’re not
stressed and still feeling worried, panicked and unable to function, anxiety
becomes a real concern.
What is stress?
Stress is an epidemic. If there was one thing that is the antithesis of LYMA,
it’s stress. Stress is one of the most common, misunderstood and debilitating
conditions in the world, yet many people accept it as part of their daily lives.
Stress eats into your resilience, hampering your ability to thrive, so finding
techniques to manage stress and set you on a positive path is crucial.
What does stress do to your body?
Stress can put a hold on all aspects of life. It weakens your immune system,
costs you precious time that should be spent enjoying and thriving in life.
Stress will damage your relationships and alienate others in the process. It
decreases your ability to make rational decisions and perform at work and
creates universal strain. Stress is horrible and most of us have no clue how
important it is to manage stress, or that it’s even possible. But it is.
Symptoms of stress.
Your body experiences four types of stress; emotional, cognitive, physical,
and behavioral. Do you feel you can identify with these?
COGNITIVE SYMPTOMS
Memory loss, lack of concentration, poor judgment, negative mindset, anxious,
racing thoughts and worrying.
EMOTIONAL SYMPTOMS
Short temper, mood swings, irritability, agitation, unable to relax,
overwhelming thoughts , loneliness and isolation, depression, unhappiness, lack
of confidence.
PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS
Weight gain or loss, aches, pains, diarrhoea or constipation, nausea, dizziness,
chest pain, rapid heartbeat, loss of sex drive and frequent colds or low energy.
BEHAVIORAL SYMPTOMS
Sleeping too much or too little, isolating yourself, eating more or less,
neglecting responsibilities, drinking alcohol to relax or nervous habits.
Ways to beat stress.
Keeping active, exercising in your home or a daily run can help to feel calm
and balance hormones. The right nutrition will also have an impact on serotonin
levels. Foods like avocados, cruciferous, white fish, vegetables and berries
should be included in your daily food intake. Learning something new also has
its benefits, reading a new book or starting to learn a new language can deflect
our minds and help us to concentrate on positive thoughts.
Boosting our resilience to stress.
The spice, curcumin has the potential to increase our resilience, however, in
its natural form, curcumin is a placebo. Its exceptionally poor absorbability
means it’s unable to be effective as an anti-inflammatory in its organic form.
The most bioavailable and effective form of curcumin is HydroCurc®, formulated
at a daily dose of 600mg in the LYMA formula.
The king of Ayurvedic herbs, ashwagandha, is a highly effective and
extensively studied adaptogen. The best-documented form of ashwagandha is full
spectrum, root extract KSM-66® Ashwagandha, formulated in LYMA at a daily dose
of 600mg.
A strong immune system will help reduce cellular stress. Wellmune® beta
glucans, dosed at 250mg, provides powerful and consistent results to help
protect us from the pace of city life.
Cognizin®, an extensively studied form of citicoline, dosed at 250mg, helps
you feel at the top of your game, lifting afternoon fog without the peaks and
troughs that go hand in hand with traditional nootropics.
The introduction of affron®, a standardized saffron extract, to the LYMA
formula further enhances our resilience and our ability to deal with adversity.
All LYMA’s patented ingredients are backed by peer-reviewed evidence to
demonstrate their effectiveness in pre-clinical and clinical trials, replacing
hope and hype with evidence-based nutrition.
